Please Pray for Kenya...

Being married to a Kenyan, I've become an NPR junkie in my married years :). I need to warn you that this is a disturbing post - but honestly, we have no right to ignore what has been going on in my husband's country - for those who insist that reading this post may be "too stressful" for you, please understand that you are only reading about it. Thirty-three million Kenyans are experiencing it RIGHT NOW.

I'm not sure how many of you pay attention to International News, but there is great strife going on in Kenya right now. After President Kibaki's obviously corrupted election, many of the Kenyans had become violent in the name of "democracy". After an entire month of not resolving the corruption issue with Kibaki's election, the violence has turned from political to ethnic. Women and children have been burned in churches, homes have been burned, innocent citizens have been decapitated, several hundred women and children have been raped. There have been over 900 people murdered since the election and it looks to only be getting worse. The last decade of peaceful democratic efforts and successes have completely been overturned with two men's political agendas. Neither of which deserve any respect at this point.

All of Lumuli's family is still in Kenya. They are safe thus far, but there is no telling how quickly this could come to Mom's home. One person killed in such an inhumane way and for such a preventable cause is inexcusable, but 900 people??? We need to be in steadfast prayer for this country. This is only a place where God can intervene and seize the unrest among His people. Please, please, please...I ask you humbly for your prayers for Kenya.

Here is a Kenyan Newspaper media, if you'd like to continue to follow what's going on in this precious country.

Jamie & Alan's Sneak-Peek!

What a gorgeous wedding I attended (and shot for) on Friday! With the colors red, black and white and beautiful chinese lanterns all around with little asian accents here and there - it was sooo beautiful. The wedding was held at a local church in their gymnasium. There were white tents adorned with lights and splashes of red. The wedding was catered by Panda Express (which, I might add, was DELICIOUS :) ). It was such a beautiful uniting of Jamie and Alan. A little over a year ago, they met on EHarmony (yes, it can work, Ladies!) and they have been inseparable since he moved here to live near Jamie.

Thank you, Jamie and Alan, for letting me be part of such a special day!

If you have not yet viewed Jamie's Bridal Session, be sure to check out the post below.

Here it is Jamie & Alan, Consider yourselves loved...

Jamie's Bridal Session!

I wanted to repost this thread because Jamie and Alan's wedding was Friday. It was a gorgeous Asian-themed wedding (I'll have pics tomorrow)! We did her bridal session a month ago, but since so many of you (Jamie & Alan's wedding guests) are looking at the blog for the first time, I thought I would bump this post.

For you Brides who have been contemplating a "Bridal" session, DO IT! I was able to hang out with Jamie on Monday - just her in her wedding dress, all decked out in her birdcage veil. We had such a blast traipsing around down-town! Bridal sessions are great because they are done at least one month BEFORE the wedding. There is no time-crunch, no stress, no nothin' but you and the camera (and me, I guess :) ). If you have been thinking about it, you need to do it!

Anyway, Jamie. I know you've been checking the BLOG religiously, so here ya go, Love! Enjoy your Sneak-Peek!

Seeley Sneak-Peek!

Angie (the mom) knew of my work because of what she saw at "The Lotus Tree" (you can see the post regarding their clinic in my October thread) and contacted me to photograph her new little baby, Calen! He is the long-awaited miracle and is so obviously loved by Mom and Dad! It was a joy to photograph their family :).

I know you've been waiting patiently, Todd and Angie, so consider yourselves loved!

Brad & Sara's Sneak-Peek!

The first time I met Sara, I was a new mom with a little preemie in my arms. Because of Julius' prematurity, it was advised that I receive care/monitoring from the "Infant/Toddler" program through the state. Sara was one of the first to come and help and has been here since Julius' homecoming; monitoring him, giving him goals, and just making sure he is doing well. She is wonderful at what she does! So...it was an honor that Sara and Brad asked me to photograph their engagement to one another. They are a beautiful couple with such a bright future ahead of them!

Thank you, Sara & Brad, for letting me share in this wonderful time with you. I'm sure the next 6 months will go faster than you expected! Enjoy your Sneak-Peek...

Jason & Monica's Sneak-Peek!

I had so much fun with you two on Saturday. You both were radiant with love for one another - and to think this all started as an innocent 7th-grade crush. It's wonderful to see you two finally united! Maybe you'll actually be able to spend some time together now ;). I hope you had a fantastic Honeymoon in Mexico! Enjoy your Sneak-Peek!
